2024-11-17feat(cli): support multiple env file argument (#26527)Bhuwan Pandit
Closes #26425 ## Overview This PR adds support for specifying multiple environment files as arguments when using the Deno CLI. Subsequent files override pre-existing variables defined in previous files. If the same variable is defined in the environment and in the file, the value from the environment takes precedence. ## Example Usage ```bash deno run --allow-env --env-file --env-file=".env.one" --env-file=".env.two" script.ts ``` --------- Co-authored-by: Bartek Iwańczuk <biwanczuk@gmail.com>

2024-09-26feat: add `--allow-import` flag (#25469)Bartek Iwańczuk
This replaces `--allow-net` for import permissions and makes the security sandbox stricter by also checking permissions for statically analyzable imports. By default, this has a value of `--allow-import=deno.land:443,jsr.io:443,esm.sh:443,raw.githubusercontent.com:443,gist.githubusercontent.com:443`, but that can be overridden by providing a different set of hosts. Additionally, when no value is provided, import permissions are inferred from the CLI arguments so the following works because `fresh.deno.dev:443` will be added to the list of allowed imports: ```ts deno run -A -r https://fresh.deno.dev ``` --------- Co-authored-by: David Sherret <dsherret@gmail.com>

This commit removes all occurrences of `--unstable` flag from all the tests that are run in CI. Turns out none of the tests actually required that flag anymore.
2024-09-09BREAKING: Remove `--unstable` flag (#25522)Bartek Iwańczuk
This commit effectively removes the --unstable flag. It's still being parsed, but it only prints a warning that a granular flag should be used instead and doesn't actually enable any unstable feature. Closes https://github.com/denoland/deno/issues/25485 Closes https://github.com/denoland/deno/issues/23237
2024-09-09fix(node/byonm): do not accidentally resolve bare node built-ins (#25543)David Sherret

2024-09-09feat: Add better error messages for unstable APIs (#25519)Bartek Iwańczuk
This commit improves error messages for unstable APIs: - `--unstable-broadcast-channel` - `--unstable-cron` - `--unstable-http` - `--unstable-kv` - `--unstable-temporal` By providing information and hints what went wrong and how the error can be fixed. It reuses the same infra that was added in https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/21764.
2024-09-05feat: Allow importing .cjs files (#25426)Bartek Iwańczuk
This commit adds support for executing top-level `.cjs` files, as well as import `.cjs` files from within npm packages. This works only for `.cjs` files, the contents of sibling `package.json` are not consulted for the `"type"` field. 2024-09-04BREAKING(config): make supported compilerOptions an allow list (#25432)David Sherret
Deno has been using a deny list, which doesn't make sense because a lot of these options don't even work. Closes #25363
2024-09-04fix: lock down allow-run permissions more (#25370)David Sherret
`--allow-run` even with an allow list has essentially been `--allow-all`... this locks it down more. 1. Resolves allow list for `--allow-run=` on startup to an absolute path, then uses these paths when evaluating if a command can execute. Also, adds these paths to `--deny-write` 1. Resolves the environment (cwd and env vars) before evaluating permissions and before executing a command. Then uses this environment to evaluate the permissions and then evaluate the command.
2024-09-03BREAKING(permissions): remove --allow-hrtime (#25367)Luca Casonato
Remove `--allow-hrtime` and `--deny-hrtime`. We are doing this because it is already possible to get access to high resolution timers through workers and SharedArrayBuffer. Co-authored-by: Bartek Iwańczuk <biwanczuk@gmail.com>

2024-09-03feat: support DENO_LOG env var instead of RUST_LOG (#25356)Bartek Iwańczuk
Instead of `RUST_LOG` env var, we now support `DENO_LOG` env var. This is done to be able to set a setting specific to `deno` that wouldn't impact other binaries written in Rust. Ref https://github.com/denoland/deno/issues/10558#issuecomment-2324300211

2024-08-30BREAKING: `DENO_FUTURE=1` by default, or welcome to Deno 2.0 (#25213)Bartek Iwańczuk
This commit effectively turns Deno into Deno 2.0. This is done by forcing `DENO_FUTURE=1` env var, that was available in the past few months to try Deno 2 changes. This commit contains several breaking changes scheduled for Deno 2: - all deprecated JavaScript APIs are not available any more, mostly `Deno.*` APIs - `window` global is removed - FFI, WebGPU and FS APIs are now stable and don't require `--unstable-*` flags - import assertions are no longer supported - "bring your own node modules" is enabled by default This is the first commit in a series that are scheduled before the Deno 2 release. Follow up work is tracked in https://github.com/denoland/deno/issues/25241. --------- Co-authored-by: Asher Gomez <ashersaupingomez@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Nayeem Rahman <nayeemrmn99@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Nathan Whitaker <nathan@deno.com>
2024-08-28fix(permissions): disallow any `LD_` or `DYLD_` prefixed env var without ↵David Sherret
full --allow-run permissions (#25271) Follow up to https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/25221 I looked into what the list was and it was quite extensive, so I think as suggested in https://github.com/denoland/deno/issues/11964#issuecomment-2314585135 we should disallow this for any `LD_` prefixed env var.
2024-08-28feat: improve lockfile v4 to store normalized version constraints and be ↵David Sherret
more terse (#25247) Stores normalized version constraints in the lockfile, which will improve reproducibility and will fix a bug with duplicate specifiers ending up in the lockfile. Also, gets rid of some duplicate data in the specifiers area of the lockfile.

2024-07-18Reland "refactor(fetch): reimplement fetch with hyper instead of reqwest" ↵Bartek Iwańczuk
(#24593) Originally landed in https://github.com/denoland/deno/commit/f6fd6619e708a515831f707438368d81b0c9aa56. Reverted in https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/24574. This reland contains a fix that sends "Accept: */*" header for calls made from "FileFetcher". Absence of this header made downloading source code from JSR broken. This is tested by ensuring this header is present in the test server that servers JSR packages. --------- Co-authored-by: Sean McArthur <sean@seanmonstar.com>

2024-07-13refactor(fetch): reimplement fetch with hyper instead of reqwest (#24237)Sean McArthur
This commit re-implements `ext/fetch` and all dependent crates using `hyper` and `hyper-util`, instead of `reqwest`. The reasoning is that we want to have greater control and access to low level `hyper` APIs when implementing `fetch` API as well as `node:http` module. --------- Co-authored-by: Bartek Iwańczuk <biwanczuk@gmail.com>
2024-07-04feat: npm workspace and better Deno workspace support (#24334)David Sherret
Adds much better support for the unstable Deno workspaces as well as support for npm workspaces. npm workspaces is still lacking in that we only install packages into the root node_modules folder. We'll make it smarter over time in order for it to figure out when to add node_modules folders within packages. This includes a breaking change in config file resolution where we stop searching for config files on the first found package.json unless it's in a workspace. For the previous behaviour, the root deno.json needs to be updated to be a workspace by adding `"workspace": ["./path-to-pkg-json-folder-goes-here"]`. Reland of https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/24056 that doesn't suffer from the problem that was discovered in https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/24261. It uses upgraded `hyper` and `hyper-util` that fixed the previous problem in https://github.com/hyperium/hyper/pull/3691.

2024-06-13chore: upgrade to reqwest 0.12.4 and rustls 0.22 (#24056)Bartek Iwańczuk
This commit updates Deno to use `reqwest` at 0.12.4 and `rustls` at 0.22. Other related crates were updated as well to match versions accepted by `reqwest` and `rustls`. Note: we are not using the latest available `rustls` yet, but this upgrade was non-trivial already, so a bump to 0.23 for `rustls` will be done in a separate commit.
